McLean family papers, 1778-1977.

The McLean family papers collection consists of genealogy materials for the Batte, Beall (Bell), Hunter, McCown and McLean families. Included in the collection are applications for membership to the Society of Colonial Wars, the Sons of the Republic of Texas and a supplement to a membership application for the Daughters of the American Revolution. Comprehensive dates for the collection are 1778-1977. Documents include correspondence, pedigree charts, wills, Bible records, birth and death certificates, and census and land records. Two books are contained in the collection: Descendants of John McLean, School Master from Isle of Jura, Scotland and Adam Hunter, Ayrshire Scot Emigrant to Macoupin County, Illinois, 1843.
